Birrong and Yagoona

Planning for Rail Services in the West of Bankstown

NSW Future Transport Strategy

Long-term future of rail service in the West of Bankstown remains uncertain with both Birrong Station and Yagoona Station at risk of closure as Transport for NSW has declined to confirm if the future Norwest/Parramatta to Kogarah via Bankstown line includes Birrong and/or Yagoona.

The NSW Government has not yet confirmed if West of Bankstown train services (especially for Birrong and Yagoona) will continue beyond 2030.

Have Your Say on Rail Options for Birrong and Yagoona

Below options have been proposed by Transport for NSW, Members of Parliament, Local Councils, Transport Advocates, Community Members for future rail services at the existing Birrong Station and Yagoona Station.

This survey assumes the Transport for NSW preferred option for the T2 Liverpool to City via Regents Park route is restored as part of the 2024 timetable; and does not preclude an extension of Metro from Bankstown to Liverpool via Bankstown Airport/Moorebank, and does not preclude an underground Bankstown Metro Station (for future Metro Southwest to Liverpool or Norwest/Parramatta to Kogarah via Bankstown).
