Save our T3 & T6 Line
Inner West & Bankstown Line

T6 Update May 2024.png

We are delighted that the Transport for NSW/Sydney Metro plans to close Birrong and Yagoona (once Metro Southwest opens) have been abandoned.

The T6 Lidcombe & Bankstown Line is a win against the former plans to permanently replace trains with shuttle bus/light-rail/ride-share.

Birrong and Yagoona (on the T6 Line) are without a train to Central due to Metro Southwest.

Both stations had 2 train lines to Central until 2013 but from October 2024 will have 0 trains to Central.

Restoring "Bankstown to City Circle via Regents Park" provides a direct train to Central for Birrong and Yagoona.

Inner West Line has capacity for Bankstown to City via Regents Park in the new timetable b

Save T3 Bankstown Line Statement regarding T3 Bankstown Line shutdown

We express concerns regarding the T3 Bankstown Line shutdown's community and stakeholder engagement strategy. â€‹It is disappointing that the NSW Government is failing to adequately publicise the closure date of 21 September 2024 through government announcements, social media, and other platforms.

The T3 Bansktown Line between Lidcombe and Campsie (via Bankstown) will close from 21 September - 29 September 2024. Such details are only listed on a small section of the Southwest Link webpage.

Following this initial closure (Lidcombe to Campsie starting 21 September), the T3 Line between Marrickville and Bankstown will close for over 12 months starting on 30 September 2024.

We reiterate our calls for the NSW Government to restore the Bankstown to City Circle via Regents Park (Inner West Line) direct train service as per the recommendation of the Parliament Inquiry into Sydenham - Bankstown line conversion (2019-20).

Save T3 Bankstown Line Statement regarding Sydney Metro City

We welcome the commencement of Sydney Metro services from Tallawong to Sydenham from 19 August 2024.

As commuters from West of Bankstown (beyond Sydenham - Bankstown), our main focus is to ensure the stations between Lidcombe - Liverpool and Lidcombe - Bankstown remain open with Sydney Trains services to City Circle.

It is unfortunate that the T3 Bankstown Line will be closed by October 2024 for the Sydenham to Bankstown Metro conversion as the Sydney Metro Southwest removes the final direct train to Central from Birrong and Yagoona.

We call on the NSW Government to restore the direct train from Bankstown (and Liverpool) to City Circle via Regents Park (on the Inner West Line), and to maintain existing direct Sydney Trains between Liverpool - Bankstown.
